FATAL CAR CRASH ON HANCOCK STREET FRIDAY

The driver who crashed into a Hancock Street house Friday afternoon had died, according to a media report.

According to WHDH-TV, a car veered off the road, crashed through a fiberglass fence at 728 Hancock Street, hit the home’s porch, and came to a stop against a cluster of trees.

The driver was not identified. Abington Fire and Abington Police could not be immediately reached for more details.

ABINGTON FIREFIGHTER ASSAULTED ON DUTY BUT FEW DETAILS AVAILABLE

Abington Police are seeking charges against a driver who they say assaulted an on-duty Abington firefighter during a recent road rage incident.

The firefighter was driving in his personal vehicle between Abington Fire’s Route 18 station and its Rockland Street station on the morning of June 26 when the incident allegedly occurred.

Deputy Chief Jeffrey Postell told Abington News that the on-duty firefighter “was assaulted following what would appear to be a road rage incident” around 7:34 a.m. He said the suspect had been identified and was being summonsed to court to face one charge of assault and battery on a public employee and one charge of disorderly conduct.

Postell declined to provide further details about the incident. Abington News filed a public records request for the official incident report earlier this month, but has not yet received it.

Town officials also did not respond to requests for information about the name of the firefighter who was allegedly assaulted, and whether he suffered any injuries.
