YOUR CHOICE ’26: Eddy announces run for Select Board

EDITORS NOTE: Abington News will be publishing candidate announcements for the Select Board race in advance of the April 25 Town Election. We will also start our regular Question of the Week feature in April.

I’m Daniel Eddy, and I’m running for the Selectboard in Abington, Massachusetts, because I believe strongly in transparent, responsible local government that puts residents first and encourages real community involvement.

After serving 14 years in the United States Marine Corps, I’ve developed a deep respect for accountability and a strong opposition to government overreach – whether it’s boards or committees making decisions that impact private lives or broad town changes without meaningful public input. I have libertarian-leaning views shaped by my time in the service, and I’m committed to ensuring our elected officials represent the people, not personal agendas.

I’m committed to transparency and mutual respect: officials should communicate openly, welcome agreement and disagreement, and foster respectful debate.

Raised with deep ties to the South Shore – attending Brockton schools while spending much of my time in Abington and Rockland – I’m passionate about building coalitions, gathering public input, and addressing our town’s challenges together.

If you agree or disagree with any of this, or have questions about community engagement in local government, please reach out via the Contact Me section on my website (www.danieljameseddy.com) or send me a message directly on Facebook. I’m eager to hear from you and work collaboratively for a better Abington.
