Currently being held in Florida; arraignment date TBD
Scott McCaffrey, 54, has been indicted by a Plymouth County grand jury on charges he repeatedly raped and sexually assaulted a girl back in 2014 and 2015.
Plymouth District Attorney Timothy Cruz announced Monday that McCaffrey will face six counts of aggravated rape of a child, four counts of indecent assault and battery on a child under 14, and one count each of dissemination of harmful matter to a minor, and lewd, wanton and lascivious conduct.
McCaffrey, who was arrested while hiding in Florida, will be arraigned in Brockton Superior Court at a later date. A spokeswoman for the District Attorney’s Office did not respond to a question about where McCaffery currently is being held and when the arraignment would be.
The female victim reported the alleged assaults this past January to Abington police, which investigated and issued a warrant for McCaffrey’s arrest.
According to the Stuart Police Department, McCaffrey was arrested earlier this year after being found living onboard a boat. McCaffrey had been taunting the family of the victim, saying he was in hiding “in paradise” and would never be found, the department said in a social media post.
The Abington Police Department did not immediately respond to a request for additional information about the case, including whether the investigation was ongoing or closed.
