More than 3,700 Abington voters cast ballots in the 2020 state primary, the highest number in recent years.
On the Democratic side, voters bucked the state trend and supported Congressman Joseph Kennedy III in his primary challenge against incumbent U.S. Senator Ed Markey. Kennedy received 1508 to Markey’s 1323, or a 53 – 47 percent margin.
Voters supported incumbent Congressman Stephen Lynch in his primary contest against Robbie Goldstein, 2,079 votes to 694 votes, or a 75-25 percent magin.
And in the four-way contest for two Plymouth County Commissioner seats, current commissioner Greg Hanley and former commissioner John Riordan were chosen over Michael Bradley and Carlos DaSilva.
On the Republican side, Abington voters chose Kevin O’Connor over Shiva Ayyahurai in the primary race for U.S. Senate, 603 votes to 319 votes, or by a 65-35 percent margin.
