Editor’s Note: The following is a letter Abington Town Clerk Leanne Adams asked Abington News to publish thanking all those who helped this election season.
In July, the process of Early Voting began with the thousands of postcards our office received requesting ballots for the Primary/Presidential Election. Over 11,000 cards where entered and organized with the assistance of my daughter, Julia. Ballot packs took many, many hours to prep with labels and postage. Over 3,500 ballots were mailed to Abington voters. I enjoyed spending many hours with volunteers/election staff and co-workers all wanting to help.
I would like to thank everyone who contributed to the success of Election Day. With the help of many, the Town Clerk’s office processed approximately 9,600 ballots from Abington voters.
I would like to express my sincere thanks to;
*Mr. & Mrs. Adams and Mrs. McKenna for stepping out of retirement and assisting with machine and ballot testing, my family, and Assistant Town Clerk Barbara Comoletti for so much that I cannot begin to list.
*Thank you to those who could not work but sent notes, brought us muffins, coffee, and kind words of support and encouragement.
*Thank you to Paul and the staff at the Abington Post Office for your support and cooperation. Often postal staff would make extra deliveries to our office to ensure all ballots were received on time. Thank you for all that you did for us.
* Sonia, Deb, Jim, Lindsay in the Treasurer’s Office for sharing the payment box with us to accept Early Voting and Absentee ballots. We are grateful for your many daily trips throughout the day to check the box for us.
*Chief David Majenski and Deputy Chief Chris Cutter for keeping us safe during Early Voting and Election Day. The drive-by’s and officers that worked with us on Election Day were reassuring to myself, election staff, and voters.
*Chief John Nuttall and Deputy Chief John Glynn for being at the polls and being close in case they were needed.
*DPW Superintendent John Stone, and the Highway Department, for setting up and taking down the voting booths, tables, and equipment. We appreciate all that you do for our office.
*Shawn Reilly and Wayne Norling for updating the sign on Gliniewicz Way and postings to the website.
I am incredibly grateful and privileged to work with so many remarkable, supportive individuals.
Sincerely,
Leanne Adams
