Abington’s Boy Scout Troop 41, Cub Scout Pack 41, Venturing Crew 41, and Girl Scouts Troop 67800 gathered at Mt. Vernon Cemetery to adorn the graves of veterans with flags ahead of Memorial Day.
The scouts hand-planted about 900 American flags on a rainy Saturday morning.
Flags were planted in the veterans section of the cemetery by members and volunteers with the United States Veterans – Vietnam Era Post #2 Staff Sargent Richard A. Fitts Chapter.
There will not be a public Memorial Day ceremony for the second year in a row. A small ceremony at Mt. Vernon Cemetery will be recorded and broadcast later on Abington Community Access & Media.
