A number of former Boston Bruin players and TV news personalities will be on hand Saturday for the annual HUG Foundation Celebrity Softball Tournament.
This year’s tournament, which starts at 9 a.m. on the softball fields behind the Beaver Brook Elementary School, features nine teams, each of which will have a “celebrity coach,” according to organizer Alex Bezanson.
Boston Bruins “Alumni” scheduled to attend include Tim Sweeney, Glen Featherstone, Dave Jensen, Billy Bennett, John Carter, and John Horrigan. NESN’s Jayme Parker and Chris Collins of NECN are also scheduled to be in attendance.
The event is free to attend. Bezanson said there will be a number of raffle prizes available.
The HUG Foundation, which stands for “help us give,” provides financial assistance to those who have stumbled onto hard times, according to Bezanson, who founded the non-profit with his wife, Lisa.
