It’s been almost 20 years since Christie Coombs husband, Jeff, boarded American Airlines Flight 11 on the morning of Sept. 11 and became one of the nearly 3,000 people killed on that horrific day.
In the years since, Coombs has remained an integral part of the Abington community, keeping her husband’s memory alive through the Jeff Coombs Foundation, as well as her involvement with Abington Celebrates and other town events.
Coombs spoke recently with Rick Collins, Abington News Editor as part of Abington Community Access & Media’s Community Chat series. The sometimes emotional conversation touched upon her now-grown children celebrating life milestones without their dad, the support she so receives from the Abington community, how she’s winding down the Foundation, and how parents can discuss the events with their children.
