MENTAL HEALTH AWARENESS EVENT

The Abington Board of Health, Abington Health Department & Plymouth County Suicide Prevention Coalition are hosting a “Pizza and Prevention” event Tuesday at 6 p.m. to get people interested in addressing mental health issues in the community.  kick-off an initiative for all community members interested in addressing mental health in our community. “Come for the pizza. Stay for the dialogue. Engage for the impact,” organizers say. A Youth Mental Health First Aid Training session is scheduled for October 1st.

ABINGTON SKY GOES BOOM ON SATURDAY

We’re discouraged from saying the F-word to describe Saturday night’s planned event in order to keep away out-of-town riff-raff. But, yes, there are fireworks scheduled for Saturday night at 8 p.m., courtesy of Abington Celebrates. The volunteer party planning committee had to cancel the annual Founder’s Day pyrotechnical display the past two years. With the final Coombs Foundation 5K on Sunday, scheduling a field day and evening fireworks on Saturday just made sense.
