SUPER BOWL UPDATE: Green Wave trails 23-7 at half

You’re looking LIVE! at Gillette Stadium,  where the 11-1 Abington Green Wave will soon take on the 11-1 Rockland Bulldogs in the D6 Super Bowl.

Kickoff is scheduled for 5 p.m. Temperatures will be hanging out around freezing.

This is Abington’s sixth trip to the Super Bowl since 2002. They are currently 5-0 in state title games.

Abington has lost five times over the last three seasons; three of those losses have come to Rockland.

Rockland grabs early lead. Rockland QB PJ Crlestino ran up the middle 40 yards down to the Abington 4. Celestino then rolled left and found Lucas Leander in the endzone. Missed point after.

Abington trails 23-7 at half. Green Wave closed deficit to 13-7 but then gave up a 100- yard kickoff return for a TD. A Reilly interception gave Rockland the ball back with 1:41 left. An Esposito FG as time expired boosted the gap at halftime to 23-7.

Mason Kilmain with a 3 yard TD run closes deficit to 23-13. Kurtis Lucas-Summers with a punishing 11 yard run up the middle helped set it up. Two point attempt was no good after an offsides penalty pushed them back to the 7. Rockland has a 4th and 5 decision to make to start the 4th quarter.

And that’s it. Turnovers kill Abington’s chances and Rockland wins the D6 Super Bowl 23-13
