It’s school vacation week. It’s also the time of year when parents wonder if combining February and April vacations into one super vacation week in March wouldn’t be the worst thing in the world.
DEMOCRATIC TOWN COMMITTEE CAUCUS ON MARCH 1
The Abington Democratic Town Committee will choose candidates for the state party convention during its annual caucus on March 1, at 7 p.m. The meeting will be a hybrid of both in-person and remote participation. GIRLS SOFTBALL REGISTRATION NOW OPEN

LITTLE LEAGUE REGISTRATION NOW OPEN

KINDERGARTEN REGISTRATION NOW OPEN
Parents/guardians of children who turn 5 on or before August 31, 2022 can register them for kindergarten for the 2022-23 school year. Registration will be held on a rolling basis with families faxing (781.982.2187), emailing (BBESKReg@abingtonps.org), or dropping off their registration paperwork to Beaver Brook Elementary School before March 4, 2022. All forms are available on the BBES website. School officials are asking people to also help spread the word.
GREEN WAVE PRIDE UPDATE
Congrats are in order for a number of Abington High runners: The girls 4×400 relay team of Shannon Groom, Kaylie Groom, Jackie Earner, and Selena Wood broke the school record by 8 seconds at the state championship meet this weekend, coming in 7th overall. Senior Maria Wood qualified for All-States in the 55m and 300m. Jill Groom, Riley Agnew, Kate Burke, and Sofia Wood also recently set the school indoor record in the 4×200 relay. The team finished second overall in the South Shore League.
The Abington Boys Basketball team is currently ranked #13 in the state in D3, and has qualified for the state tournament. They will play Cape Cod Academy Wednesday in the finals of the Shawn P. Cotter Tournament at Abington High School. Abington Boys Hockey is currently ranked #30. A win this afternoon against Middleboro clinches a tournament berth. Jesse Spinney also qualified for the D2 state wrestling tournament competing for the combined Abington/Rockland team.
