Each week, Abington News is asking the three candidates for the Board of Health a question to help voters better understand them as candidates. Election Day is Saturday, April 30. These three candidates are running for two 3-year seats on the board.
Candidate responses are published as submitted, in the order they were received, and were not edited.
This week’s question is: If elected, what do you need to accomplish over the next three years to consider your time on the Board of Health ‘successful’?”
Responses from Week 2 can be found here.
Responses from Week 3 can be found here.
Abington Community Access & Media has also released interviews with each of the candidates.
If elected, one of my goals is to work with the other departments to help solve issues concerning to the taxpayers of this town. One of the major issues being cleaning up the water. I’d also like to help with the trash/recycling concerns.
I want the community to feel heard and respected. I would love for us all to learn from one another on how to be more helpful and healthy. My main goal is for the community to be more accepting of one another and to fully understand the reasoning behind any decisions that are made. I realize that you can’t please all of the people all of the time but if things are explained clearly and all parties have been respectfully listened to, that would be a positive step forward.
If I am able to make a positive impact and use my clinical background in a positive way while serving on the Board of Health then I will feel my time has been successful.
-I would like to help promote resources/support services for addiction and opioid overuse.
-I would like to encourage continued vaccination and herd immunity in our town.
-I would love to see better recycling practices and promote less single-use items.
If I am able to make a difference in any of these areas I will feel immensely proud to be part of the BOH team.
Please consider me for one of your two votes on April 30th. I don’t want to miss out on an opportunity to contribute to my community, neighbors, family and friends.
