Abington Memorial Day ceremony Monday at 9 a.m.

Benjamin F. Caswell, Lewis V. Dorsey, Charles Handel Bellows, Jr., Clifford Ronald Kimber, Richard A. Fitts, Ernest H. Laidler, Daniel M. Vasselian. These are some of the dozens of Abington men who marched to war only to never walk on town soil again.

They’ll be among those remembered during Abington’s annual Memorial Day ceremony, which will be held at 9 a.m., at the Veterans’ Lot inside Mt. Vernon Cemetery. The event is being organized and led by town’s veterans’ organizations. The Rev. Kristy Coburn, a veteran, will speak and read the names of those who made the ultimate sacrifice.

On Saturday, volunteers, including members of Boy Scout Troop 41, Cub Scout Pack 41, and the Girl Scouts, placed flags on the gravesites in Mount Vernon Cemetery.
