EDITORS NOTE: The annual Bailey day lily sale is Saturday, July 15 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. This article is from last year but is being republished as the rest of the information remains correct.

The sunshine-filled days of June and July have produced a bumper crop of day lillies in Jack and Kathy Bailey’s yard. And now they’re ready for sale.

The Bailey’s annual daylily sale is tomorrow from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., at 645 Washington Street. More than 100 varieties of the eye-catching, sun-loving plant will be available.

Cost per plant is either $3 or $5, depending on the variety. Hostas and irises will also be available.

Money raised is donated to the St. Vincent DePaul Food Pantry, Children’s Library Garden Fund, Child Study Group, and Abington Cultural Council. The sale usually raises a couple hundred dollars for the groups annually.

Each variety of day lily available is identified with a photo and number on a large board in the yard. Volunteers will be on hand to dig up the fans. Only a certain number of each type is available. Patrons are asked to pay with cash.
