SOCCER NIGHT IN ABINGTON MONDAY NIGHT
The boys and girls varsity soccer teams are playing side by side tonight at 6 p.m. at the High School turf.
[Editorial Aside: We need a name for the turf complex. Something oceanic. The tide pool? The depths? The harbor? The whirlpool? Let’s figure this out…]
The 9th-ranked girls team will be looking for its sixth straight win when it takes on South Shore League rivals East Bridgewater. Meanwhile, the 13th-ranked boys team takes on Rockland. They will be looking to avenge a 2-1 loss suffered last Friday on the Bulldogs wet, muddy field.
PLANNING BOARD HEARS WAREHOUSE PROPOSAL MONDAY NIGHT
As reported this weekend, the Planning Board Monday night will hear a proposal by Feeney Brothers to build four warehouses totaling more than 25,000 square feet of space and 35 parking spaces on more than 31 acres of land off Hancock Street. It’s similar to another plan that received partial approval back in 2019. The hearing starts at 6 p.m.
EMERGENCY ALERT TEST HITS CELL PHONES WEDNESDAY AFTERNOON
The Federal Emergency Management Agency will conduct a nationwide test of its Wireless Emergency Alert System on Wednesday. Starting about 2:20 p.m. cell towers will start broadcasting a test message for wireless phones. The alerts also use a unique tone and vibration, so you can’t miss it. Emergency Alert System tests will also be sent out to televisions and radios. For cell phone owners, the message will read: “THIS IS A TEST of the National Wireless Emergency Alert System. No action is needed.”
