It’s been almost three years since the Jeff Coombs Memorial Fund held its last 5K, but the organization is still raising money and making donations.
This Friday, the Fund is holding a ‘FunRaiser’ at Lucky’s 777 Bar & Grill in Holbrook from 7 p.m. – 11 p.m. The event will feature live music by the band Slider Rocks (which is performing gratis), as well as food and raffles.
Admission is $30 per person. The attached flyer has details on how to purchase tickets.
The event also features an online auction that will run through May 1; prizes include tickets to four of Boston’s sports teams, art, a $1,000 Delta Airlines gift card, and much more.
A list of all auction items is available at http://www.32auctions.com/jeffcoombsfund
The Jeff Coombs Memorial Fund was founded in November of 2001, in memory of Jeff Coombs, an Abington husband and father of 3 who was killed in the 9/11 terrorist attacks.
Since its inception, the Fund has raised and distributed more than $1 million to families, enrichment programs in the schools, special programs in local towns, and scholarships to Abington High college-bound seniors.
The Fund continues its work by helping families in Massachusetts challenged by death, illness and other difficult circumstances. Just since January, the Fund has given out $20,000 in grants to families in need. In addition to referrals from friends and military organizations, the Fund has been working with patient advocates at Boston’s top hospitals, including Childrens and Dana Farber, to help their families affected by illness.
