There’s a little bit of everything at the Abington Music Parents Craft Fair. The 44th annual version of the fair is this Sunday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Abington High School.
“We try to offer a wide range for vendors,” said Corissa Morales, one of the event’s lead organizers.
The Craft Fair, which starts in the high school’s spacious cafeteria and stretches down the connecting corridor to the school’s auditorium lobby, is one of the largest in the area and an in-demand event among local crafters.
“We have vendors who have been coming to us for more than 20 years,” said Morales. “We do a lot of advertising and tend to attract 1,000 shoppers, so it’s a pretty large and well-loved event.”
The entry fee is $3 for adults and $2 for students and seniors.
In addition to the wares of more than 70 vendors, the Craft Fair will also offer a baked goods and candy table, and a scavenger hunt for shoppers.
“There will also be a shopping map that shows every space, and who’s in the space, and what they’re selling so that people can target their shopping and know what they’re looking for,” said Morales, who serves as the treasurer for the Abington Music Parents.
The Craft Fair is the organization’s largest fundraiser of the year with work starting on this year’s version six months ago. Money raised goes to support the high school’s growing marching band program, said Morales, whose daughter, Juliette, is the percussion captain.
“The arts are important,” she said. “Studies show that the arts are beneficial to mental health and that students who participate in the arts and sports do better academically.”
