From ugly sweaters, holiday sing-a-longs, and estate sale auctions to holiday lights and Santa and Mrs. Claus, Abington Celebrates Christmas Weekend will have it all.
Save the weekend dates of December 13-15 to experience everything Abington has to offer to celebrate Christmas!
On Friday, December 13, the Abington Lions Club is hosting its 7th Annual Ugly Sweater Ball from 7-11 p.m. at the Abington American Legion, located at 1027 Washington Street. Tickets will be sold at the door for $25 each. Enjoy music by DJ Victor, Christmas karaoke, dancing, games, prizes for the ugliest sweater, a scratch ticket raffle, a dessert table, and more. There will be a cash-only bar. Proceeds will benefit Abington Lions Club charities.

Also on Friday evening is a Winter Concert at 7 p.m. at the Abington High School Auditorium, featuring the Abington Town Choir, Abington Community Band, and Island Grove Chorus. Enjoy an evening of music, including a sing-a-long.
Start your Saturday morning off on Dec. 14 at the Dyer Memorial Library at 28 Centre Avenue for an Open House, Estate Sale and Auction hosted by the Dyer and Blackbeard Inc. Estate Sales. The Estate Sale will be 9 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. and include a live auction with licensed auctioneer Steve DeFrancesco from Silverstone Realty. Come enjoy lots of unique historical treasures.
From 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. on Saturday, Coworking Kids, in collaboration with The She Shed, will be hosting a free Drop-In Holiday Craft Activity for families and children at The She Shed, located at 396 Ashland Street. Island Grove in Abington is the place to be on Saturday afternoon for the annual Abington Celebrates Christmas at Island Grove event from 3–6 p.m. Have fun with Santa and Mrs. Claus in the Gingerbread Cabin, and enjoy a hay ride by Cullivan Landscape, carolers, train displays, refreshments, demonstrations, special holiday guests, and more!
Lighting of the Bandstand will take place at 5:30 p.m. This year’s Lighting of the Bandstand honorees are the Abington Police Department and the Abington Fire Department.
Please bring a food item for the Abington Food Pantry or new unwrapped toy for the DAR. Donation drop offs are located at the Grove entrance on Park Avenue. Please note that Park Avenue will be closed for public vehicle traffic from 3-6 p.m. it will remain open for Park Street residents.
Parking is available along both sides of Central Street.
On Sunday morning, December 15, bring your dog to the Gingerbread Cabin at Island Grove, for Pup Pics with Santa, hosted by the Friends of Abington Dog Park from 10 a.m. – 1 p.m. Photos are $20 each and proceeds will assist with the upkeep of the Abington Dog Park. All dogs must be on a leash.
To close out the weekend, an Abington Celebrates Christmas Concert will be held at 3 p.m. at the United Church of Christ on 10 Bedford Street. Under the direction of Doug Ulwick, the concert will feature the revitalized Abington Town Christmas Choir, handbells, and an audience Christmas carol sing-a-long. This is a free event. Good will offerings for United Church of Christ will be accepted.
