Law enforcement say they are still trying to figure out how a Plymouth Street man wound up dead in his backyard with multiple blunt force injuries and who may have been involved.
“The investigation is ongoing,” Plymouth County District Attorney spokesperson Beth Stone told Abington News.
Abington Police found Anthony Leverone, 43, unresponsive behind his home at 563 Plymouth Street last Friday night. Family members has asked police to stop by the house for a wellness check. The 1999 Abington High grad was pronounced dead at the scene.
Massachusetts State Police on Monday located and seized a blue Hyundai Sonata in Taunton in connection with the case. They said they have also interviewed multiple people and searched several cell phones for data and other clues.
However, as of Thursday night, no arrests have been made.
According to Abington Police statistics filed with the FBI, Leverone is the town’s first homicide since 2019.
The state Medical Examiner’s Office has not yet issued an official cause of death, but investigators said it appears he died of blunt force trauma and high impact injuries.
According to published reports, investigators said the people of interest who have been interviewed were previously acquainted with the victim.
