OBITUARY: Priscilla L. Taylor

Priscilla “Sissie” Louise Taylor, of Abington, passed away on Saturday January 18th, 2025, at the age of 96. She was born in Pittsburgh PA, on October 12, 1928, the daughter of the late Philip Leonard Taylor & Dorothy Studley (Bumpus) Taylor.

Priscilla was raised in Abington MA where she graduated as Salutatorian from Abington High School in 1946. After graduation, she attended Fisher Jr College, where she excelled in Executive Secretarial studies, graduating in 1948. Priscilla went to work for Fidelity Management and Research (now known as Fidelity Investments) in Boston, in 1959, where she proudly served as the Secretary to the Executive Vice President. She remained at Fidelity for decades, watching it grow from a small company (of less than 100 employees) to the successful giant it became.

After retiring from Fidelity, she went to work for Senator Edward P Kirby at his local Whitman office. Priscilla was a true professional, a hard worker, and a dedicated employee. Priscilla loved animals (birds, fish, and elephants were amongst her favorites); she generously donated to several animal charities and sanctuaries. She had a fish tank in her living room, with many fish, and could always quote the age and specific stories of each one.

Priscilla loved children & they loved her. She enjoyed going for walks, driving to see the Fall foliage, and listening to music. Having grown up during the ‘Big Band’ era, Priscilla often went dancing with her friends on weekends. In later years, she would visit her sister’s home weekly, and enjoyed hearing those same songs played on the piano (by brother-in-law Bob). She truly treasured time spent with her family. Priscilla loved eating out and was a creature of habit. So much so, she went out to lunch daily. At one stage, she ate at the same restaurant (Jamie’s in Whitman) and ordered the same fish meal, every day, for years. Priscilla enjoyed traveling and was especially fond of Booth Bay Harbor, ME, where she vacationed twice yearly, for many years. Her family, who called her “Sissie,” will remember her as fiercely independent, quick with numbers, kind, funny, incredibly generous, and unconditionally loving.

Priscilla was pre-deceased by her brothers William and Donald, her parents Philip and Dorothy, her niece Susan Elizabeth (Dennis) and her nephew Scott Whitney (Dennis). She is survived by her beloved sister Judy, and her husband Robert of East Bridgewater. Priscilla leaves behind her nephew Jeff and his wife Chris of Sandwich; and her nieces: Julie of Carver; Angel of Londonderry; and Deanna of Quincy. She leaves behind her great nephews and nieces: Tyler (wife Laurel), Cathy, Jesse, James, Josiah, Lucca, and Cole. Priscilla will be laid to rest in Marshfield beside her loving parents.

Calling hours will be held on Sunday, January 26th from 2:00PM-3:00PM followed by a funeral home service at 3:00PM in the Chapman Funeral Home, 98 Bedford St., Bridgewater. Interment will be private.
