AHS Drama Club’s “Once Upon A Mattress” opens tonight

The Abington High School Drama Club’s 2025 musical opens tonight with three performances scheduled this week.

The thespian society is performing “Once Upon A Mattress,” a family-friendly musical based on The Princess and the Pea fairytale.

Show times are Thursday at 7 p.m., Friday at 7 p.m., and Saturday at 2 p.m.

Tickets are $15 for adults and $12 for students and seniors. Tickets can be purchased online or at the door. 

The show tells the story of Prince Dauntless, his prospective bride, Princess Winnifred, and the royalty test set up by Queen Aggravain. It debuted on Broadway in 1959, with revivals in 1997 and 2024.

The Drama Club’s performance features Rebekah Salah as Princess Winnifred, Jacob Khalil as Prince Dauntless, Natalia Maciel as Queen Aggravain, Madeline Bonatti as Lady Larken, Arthur Sugarman as Sir Harry, Maeve Coe as Jester, Evangeline McCleary as Minstrel, Greg Fish as King Sextimus, Jake Martins as Wizard, and nearly two dozen other Abington High actors, singers, and dancers.

Megan Tomlin is the director, with choreography by Susan Mullen, music direction by Rebecca Harrison, and costumes by Presley Mahanna.
