It’s post time in Abington on Saturday.
The Abington Green Wave Boosters is hosting a Kentucky Derby Casino Night on Saturday to raise money to support the high school athletic program.
The fundraiser, which coincides with the Kentucky Derby, will be held at the Knights of Columbus in Whitman. Doors open at 5 p.m.
Entry fee is $40 for one person or $60 for two. The entry fee will get attendees $1,000 worth of play money they can spend at a number of casino games, including roulette, blackjack, craps, and Texas Hold ‘Em poker.
Liz Duggan, one of the event organizers, said they have lined up a number of celebrity dealers including head football coach Ed Reilly, baseball coach Steve Perakslis, and hockey coach Bryan Woodford.
“It should be a lot of fun,” she said.
Attendees can also buy 50/50 squares for the big derby race, which is scheduled to go off at 6:57 p.m.
In addition there will be two tiers of raffle prizes. For one tier, 25 tickets are $10. For the second tier of raffle baskets, 10 tickets are $25.
The Kentucky Derby Casino Night is the Boosters’ big spring fundraiser, replacing a trivia night the group organized for a number of years.
Proceeds will help the Boosters support Green Wave athletics. The Boosters help pay for letterman jackets for varsity athletes, end of year awards, fan buses for students, and equipment, among other program extras.
