The 2026 state primary will be held on Tuesday, Sept. 1.
Voting will take place at the Beaver Brook Elementary School, at 1 Ralph Hamlin Lane, from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m.
Both the Republican and Democratic ballots have high-profile contests.
On the Republican ballot, Michael Minogue and Brian Shortsleeve are seeking the party nomination for governor. The winner will face incumbent Maura Healey in November.
The latest UMass poll shows Minogue comfortably ahead.
Plymouth County Commissioner Sandra Wright is also facing a challenge from Anthony O’Brien and Korey Welch.
On the Democratic side, Congressman Stephen Lynch, whose district includes Abington, faces a challenge from Patrick Roath.
In addition, incumbent U.S. Senator Ed Markey is being opposed by Congressman Seth Moulton.
Gov. Healey does not have a primary opponent.
Abington’s state representative, Alyson Sullivan-Almeida also does not have a primary opponent; same for state Sen. John Keenan.
Voters can vote early at Town Hall during business hours.
Early voting and absentee voting ends Monday Aug. 31 at Noon, said Town Clerk Leanne Adams.
The Town Clerk’s Office will then close at that time to continue preparations for Primary Day.
All ballots can be returned to the ballot drop box in front of the Town Hall.
Adams requested that voters do not nring voted ballots to the polls on Tuesday.
