Group looking for donations, not dropoffs
In accordance with CDC guidelines due to the COVID-19 epidemic, the Abington Food Pantry will be unable to accept food donations until further notice.
Panty volunteers said Abington residents looking to help can instead make monetary donations. For every dollar donated, the Abington Food Pantry is able to purchase $8 dollars worth of groceries at the Boston Food Bank.
“The food we get from the Boston Food Bank is amazing,” said volunteer Mary Hickey. “If families were to donate even just $5 dollars we could do great things.”
Checks should be made payable to the Abington Food Pantry., and can be mailed to 455 Plymouth Street, Abington, MA 02351. All monetary donations are tax deductible and greatly appreciated in helping local families in need.
The Abington Food Pantry plans to be open Tuesday, March 31st from 5:30 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. for Abington residents. A drive-thru service will be provided with pre-packaged boxes. Clients are asked to remain in their vehicles with their name and address written on a piece of paper placed on the driver’s side window for check-in. In addition, trunks should be opened so that staff can readily place the boxes in.
