John and Suzanne Pumphrey, owners of Webster Timber Lanes in Abington, are excited for the opening of Luci’s Pizza Bar this week after months of renovating the former Squires Loft Lounge, as well as navigating through COVID-19 restrictions.
“We’re just getting started, working through the growing pains of the business and figuring out how we want everything,” said John Pumphrey.
Named after the Pumphreys’ daughter, Luci’s is a fun, casual restaurant for all ages offering a variety of artisan-style pizzas, salads, and sandwiches, as well as a selection of fried appetizers such as sweet potato fries and fried pickles. In addition, there are plenty of sweet treats for dessert including hot fudge sundaes, milk shakes and the Smore’s Skillet.
“We have Executive Chef, Cedric Beguin, who makes fresh pizza dough daily using fresh ingredients, all made to order, and with a smile in every bite,” added Pumphrey.
From the inside of the bowling alley, Luci’s has an inside-out appearance, as if one were walking down the street in the North End. Patrons will find a newly expanded bar and space to accommodate corporate and private events as well as the opportunity for entertainment and music.
The renovations took place largely during the Baker Administration’s mandatory shutdown of non-essential businesses. With the COVID-19 pandemic still ongoing, Pumphrey says both the restaurant and bowling alley employs safe practices.
“Just like any other restaurant, there is no seating currently around the bar and tables are arranged for spacing,” said Pumphrey. “All of the servers are wearing masks and we are cleaning and sanitizing.
“We also have face masks for sale. If someone forgets a mask, we have them available for a buck or they can also buy a box.”
Pumphrey also notes that with ample spacing in the bowling area, patrons and their families have the ability to skip a lane between others for a safe bowling experience.
Luci’s Pizza Bar is located at Webster Timber Lanes, 460 Bedford Street, Abington. Hours are Monday through Thursday from 5 p.m. to midnight. Friday through Sunday they are open from noon to midnight. Visit https://webster.candlepin.com or Webster Timber Lanes on Facebook.
