Abington Firefighters quickly extinguished a fire under an MBTA commuter rail train Wednesday morning.
Fire Chief John Nuttall said a junction box under the northbound locomotive caught fire just south of the Abington MBTA station.
“When our crews arrived, the engineer had the train shut down, the conductor had all of the passengers …out of the train, and another MBTA worker directed us to the location,” he said.
A crew from Engine 3 snuffed the fire with a portable fire extinguisher.
There were no reported injuries. The train was pulled away by another locomotive.
