Junior Class Auction Thursday night
The Abington High School’s annual junior class auction is tonight (Thursday) in the High School cafeteria starting at 5 p.m.
Guests are asked to enter via the Gymnasium entrance, not the school’s front doors. There will be dozens of prizes as part of the silent auction. The live auction will feature seven great items. According to an auction flyer, the cast of the upcoming Elf: The Musical production will be previewing a couple of numbers. Guests are asked to pay with cash or checks.

Speaking of Elf: The Musical, tickets are now on sale for the latest AHS Drama Club production. Show times are Thursday, Dec. 9 at 7 p.m., Friday, Dec. 10 at 7:30 p.m., and Saturday, Dec. 11, at both 2 p.m., and 7 p.m. Advance tickets can be purchased at showtix4u.com
GREEN WAVE FOOTBALL SEMIFINAL GAME FRIDAY
Abington’s run towards another Super Bowl next stops in Quincy Friday night when the Green Wave face the lower-ranked squad from St. Mary’s of Lynn at the upgraded President’s Stadium. Kickoff is 7 p.m. Winner heads to the Super Bowl, which will be played the first week in December (date to be determined) at Gillette Stadium. Arch-rival Rockland plays its semi final game in Saturday.
Win or lose, the Green Wave will have a quick turnaround to prepare for its annual Thanksgiving Day game against Whitman Hanson this coming Thursday.
CHRISTMAS BALL BOWLING TOURNEY DEC. 5
Abington News will again be sponsoring a holiday candlepin bowling tournament, this time on Dec. 5, as part of the Abington Celebrates festival weekend. The tournament, which will be held at Webster Timber Lanes, is open to all bowlers and starts at 11 a.m. It will feature two qualifying strings, with the Top 4 bowlers advancing to a 1-string roll-off. The Top 2 then will roll for the title. Winner will receive a cash prize and other awards. Cost is $25/bowler. Those interested can signup at Webster Timber Lanes.
