Abington voters bucked the national trend and choose Kamala Harris for president by a narrow margin on Tuesday.
Nearly 10,000 voters cast ballots in the 2024 general election — either early or on Election Day — making it one of the biggest turnouts in recent memory.
Abington voters said yes, the state Auditor should be able to audit the Legislature by a vote of 6,631 – 2,443. They also supported removing the MCAS test as a graduation requirement by a vote of 5,968 – 3,447. Both ballot questions appear to have been approved statewide.
On the national level, Abington voters preferred Harris over former president Donald Trump 4,658 – 4,605. Although Harris easily won Massachusetts overall, a number of local towns went for Trump, including Whitman and Rockland.
And despite easily winning her third term in the U.S. Senate, Elizabeth Warren did not carry Abington, with Republican John Deaton winning the town 5,009 – 4,336.
In the four-way race for two seats on the Plymouth County Board of Commissioners, Abington voters preferred incumbents Greg Hanley and Jared Valanzola over Rhonda Nyman and Anthony O’Brien.
